Will Democrats nominate a candidate who can win?

Looking at the front runners today will any of them attract enough cross over Republican or Independent votes in 2008
to win? At this moment, Governor Bill Richardson might be the only one who could do it. His experience and demeanor
put him far ahead of any other Democratic contendor. Let's see how he does on the debates tonight.

I wanted to be the first to say congratulations on starting your own blog. I don't always agree with your "rantings" (most of the time I do!), but you always express your opinions intelligently and articulately --but not necessarily succinctly.
I hope to watch the debate this evening and will pass on my thoughts after that.

So I watched the debate and Richardson is impressive. But I think that all of the candidates did very well. I don't think that any of them really stood out and it's kind of amusing how polite they are to each other. They seem to be trying to avoid saying bad stuff about each other, so that they don't give any fodder to the Republicans to use in the election.
Edwards was the most aggressive, but Hillary was very composed and her answers were to the point. Obama seemed a bit less practiced, which may be good or bad.
Good luck with the blog and send a note when you update it.
Peace, Karen

Have they're been any "Honest Politicians" since Honest Abe Lincoln? Harry Truman? Even if that
were true it's been near 60 years!
Good Job on the blog !

I saw bits and pieces of the debate as i was in alaska in early June looking for a place devoid of political incorrectness. I think it exists in Seward. As for the democrats...I'd like to think it is time for the pendulum to swing their way in '08, provided they don't screw up between now and then. The're all being nice to each other now because who ever wins the party nomination will probably need to choose a v.p. running-mate among the group of more popular loosers. (Hillary/Obama would make a lot of sence to keep things democratic for the next 8 and 8 to follw)

Also, I'm not sure Hilary or Obama are the best choices but i think one of them will represent the dems and go on to take the race (provided Floridians get their act together and don't give the GOP's a reason to cry fowl?)

Nice Blog Barry...
